Debate I – Artistic Residences: “Oasis” for creation.
A residence is by definition a temporary place we live during a period of time which goes beyond just a mere visit.  The residences created for artists, whether they are in the country exercised by the artist or in another, can mean the possibility of an “island” to create, meditate their creative path, find other creators or cultural agents, see exhibitions or simply take refuge in another environment.  It will be these temporary “oases” – where they need not cover the costs of daily living – a compulsory ticket for today’s creators?  It will be the ideal «habitat» for an artist in a nomad world where their own permanent home has stopped existing.
What will its ideal form be?  On a deserted island or in a great metropolis?  What are the different geometries of these “time bubbles”?  Can we think about an artistic residence for the future?
